Review : New Makeup Line by Sorbet

Hey beautiful, have you also been wondering around in Clicks and spotted the new makeup line by Sorbet display? It is so bright I love it, it’s very eye-catching. If you didn’t know Sorbet started out as a nail salon franchise, and over the years have morphed into a very diverse brand which includes skincare, nail care, body care and now makeup and haircare.

A few weeks ago I think on launch day lol, I purchased some goodies online at Clicks, and because I purchased online I didn’t want to take any chances with colour matching, so I opted for some very versatile products like the loose powder, blending sponge as well as a primer.

So let’s get into it.

New Makeup Line by Sorbet

They truly have covered just about everything.

From the looks of it, you can have this one brand in your makeup bag and be done. There is no need to even look at another display. For a first launch, I think its pretty impressive. As with all my purchases I am very selective and don’t like to buy everything, I like to dip my toe in the water and then jump in if you know what I mean.

The Primer – Prep and Poreless – Price R149.95

This is so velvety smooth, it literally feels like clouds on your face. It’s definitely not one of those primers that creates a tacky layer for makeup to adhere to, but it does smooth everything out. In my experience thus far I honestly don’t see it making my skin poreless, but it does improve the look of the pores, it’s not at all like the Smashbox pore minimizing primer, to me that stuff fills in my pores like no other primer.

As far as wear time goes, I don’t typically have issues with makeup sliding around on my face, that is the one perk of having dry skin, nothing budges. I can’t say how it performs on oily skin, but my friend has normal skin with an oily T-Zone and she liked it a lot.

The Sponge – Sculpt and Highlight– Price R99.95

To be honest, I bought the sorbet sponge for the shape and colour lol, because essence also recently launched a sponge this shape but I can’t seem to get my hands on it, so when I saw this one I was like ‘yay!’.Once this one is wet the size increase is considerable, it feels HUGE in comparison to the real techniques sponge or even the beauty blender for that matter.

Is it a practical sponge no, sorry, it is so hard to blend concealer around the eye, so that means I had to get out another sponge to get into the inner corner. As far as sculpting goes, it’s ok, I’m not big on contouring daily but when I used it for that purpose again I first blended with a brush then softened it put with this sponge, but it’s not a tool you need in your arsenal if you already have other blending sponges.

I know they also launched a black one and a grey one, which I am yet to try. If you have tried those please let us know how it went in the comments section below.

The Powder – Powder To You Loose Powder – Price R179.95

This is such a finely milled powder, that just feels like velvet. It definitely assists in the blurring of pores but I don’t think anything takes it away completely. Much to my surprise, it outperforms so many powders on the market, the downside, it has a tint to it. The packaging says it’s translucent but there is a little something there when you’re looking at it in the container. Then you blend it on to your skin and it vanishes like magic.

This gem doesn’t emphasise any dry patches, doesn’t cling to the weirdness on the face, it is just awesome. Sets my makeup beautifully whether I use the puff it comes with or a brush even with a damp sponge.

I used it to set my under eye concealer with a damp beauty blender and stunning except it does alter the shade of my concealer though. What I usually do now when I want to use this powder is, I use a very light shade of concealer that way I still get the brightening effect even after the powder goes on.

There you have it. This has been my experiences with the line thus far, of course, I haven’t tried everything yet, and as I do I will provide you with as much information as I can to enable you to make an informed decision. The New Makeup Line by Sorbet is turning out to be a winner thus far, so if you’ve tried any of their products let me know in the comments what your experience was.

Thanks for stopping by and have a Be YOU tiful day! You’re Worth it!
