Milani Conceal & Perfect 2 in 1 South Africa Foundation: Review

Hello there and welcome back. I know I’m late to this review although I got this foundation sometime late last year, I just can’t decide how I feel regarding the highly spoken about Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 foundation.

So first off a big thanks to Simone from an ordinary girl, she posted her review, and until that point, I didn’t know that Milani was even available here in South Africa, but yip they are. So thanks Simone for enabling this disease I have lol…

I’m sorry to say the website is a tad bland, and obviously, I know we are here to talk about the performance of the foundation, but really man, that website needs some help shame. Obviously, we don’t have ALL the new releases but we can now buy this affordable drugstore brand right here, with a small shipping fee of R50.00. I decided to get the foundation along with the retouch and erase concealer…more on that in another post.

So I don’t have a lot to cover up, I have pretty good skin. I have one old chicken pox scar on my cheek which sadly people keep mistaking for sun damage, it’s not, promise. Let me tell you this dot on my face is the bain of my makeup game, the amount of concealer I need to cover it up is actually ridiculous!

Never the less, when I used this foundation for the first time I wasn’t that impressed and it made me look like a cake face, but the conceal and perfect did just that, I was shocked. I was shocked at how little work it took to cover up everything, but at the end of it all, I could tell I was wearing foundation. This is typically not the look I am going for, I prefer effortless on a day to day basis.

It layers well, but I made the rookie mistake of applying it with a brush, silly I know because it’s already full coverage the brush made it look like too much, or at least for me.

Let me break it down, my top tips for using the Milani perfect and conceal foundation with a Sahara face.

  1. Hydrating cream after cleansing (I know, DUH! right!? You’d be surprised how many people think that primer can do what lotion does and visa-versa), my top choice is the Neutrogena hydro boost or Nivea Q10 Plus C Daily moisturizer
  2. Apply a hydrating primer and then a pore filling one if and where required- for more on primers check out my previous post here
  3. Apply a face mist, I use the skindinavia primer spray or the Avene thermal water
  4. Always use a damp beauty sponge – my fav at the moment is the Urban Studio blending sponge.
  5. Use as little powder as possible (Although if I don’t set it, I do experience some transfer, could just be me)

And obvs if you used a setting powder, apply some setting spray after.

All over my skin, I apply one thin layer and then build up where I need extra coverage, but overall I really do enjoy it after all. The shade range for me is not particularly amazing but I find that with all the shade-adjusting drops on the market it doesn’t really matter.

The price point is around R150.00 or $10 in the U.S, worth it for the price? Hell yeah. I will, however, say for day to day, I don’t think this is the one I would recommend, I would say try the Maybelline matte and poreless instead unless of course, you have a lot to cover up then I think you would absolutely enjoy this.

My final “pro” tip is to try and mix this with the LA girl foundation, it is such a beautiful combo, I love it.

Ladies and gents this is clear evidence that you should try products and sometimes do things out of the ordinary, so to be fair this is a hell of a routine for every day but if that’s your thing, then you do you boo. For me, it’s not a day to day type of thing but it is full coverage for sure. When I mix this with the LA girl foundation to an event, 99.2% of the time people compliment me on my makeup.

Let me know if you’ve used this what you think if not are you going to get it right now?

Come find me on social media, we can hang out there 😉

Have a Be YOU tiful day! You’re worth it!

  1. You’re so right about the website being bland.

I see we’re the same shade. What shade are you in the matte and Poreless?

Love the review…shows how one thing works for one and not the other. I hate the sponge effect and prefer a brush (but a specific brush) and you prefer the opposite.

    1. Really but if I spend too much time out side I have to add in some of the catrice darkening drops lol. In matte and poreless I have 3 shade but the one I am currently using is 332

True hey and it’s all trial and error, trying to do a first impression is not always wise lol
