Is the loreal hydra genius, genius? Hyaluronic acid is all the rage these days, right!? I first heard about this miracle product,was when I did a post for Brand Backer, way back in the day. I was so astounded by the properties and benefits. Back then we also didn’t have Aramex, to import these things with. So the thought of purchasing from amazon continuously freaked me out. Not anymore. But now I don’t have to…Hopefully. Hint hint nudge nudge (Loreal Paris South Africa). If the Loreal Hydra Genius Moisturiser can just be part of the standard skincare line here in South Africa.

I was so totally unaware that the Loreal Hydra genius was even available in South Africa. I have come across it on YouTube, but I’ve never seen it as a stand alone product on the loreal shelves. Yes, I know we live in South Africa and we get al the launches 2 years late, but it came and I hopped right on that.
I got it on Black Friday, from Superbalist, because the set was 50% off, and I really wanted to try the Kiwi scrub as well. But the clay mask that came in the set is not my thing. So my husband claimed that, even though I wanted to add it to a giveaway mxm. But shame, although he is very much into skincare, he didn’t have a mask, also I get to use it sometimes lol.

Packaging
It feels very well made, and comes in a glass pump bottle. Loreal is also more higher end for the drugstore, so a plastic bottle would have been in poor taste. So if this was some plastic tube, I would have been disappointed I guess. Nope, I’m lying I can cut those open when squeezing no longer works.
Price
I actually can’t tell you how much this is on it’s own, but I can tell you the set was R470.00 but as I said black friday so I paid R235.00. Product
This is a light blue color, and comes out like a gel consistency. It’s so cooling on the skin. It smells so awesome, kind of like perfume. So on that note I’m kinda torn, I like it, but I also know that fragrance isn’t recommended in skincare. Oh well if my face was gonna fall off, it would’ve happened already!
As a morning moisturizer this is awesome. It sinks right in and keep me feeling hydrated all day. I feel like this would work well even as a primer, provided you don’t have big pores/craters, like me. It is a really awesome daily moisturizer.
However, for evening, I don’t think this gives me everything I need. Especially after I’ve tried sleeping masks. I feel like it just doesn’t do enough. So if you have normal skin maybe this would be enough, otherwise just invest in a night cream.
For Winter, I also think this won’t do it for me. But I do think I found my new Summer fav. Plus the bottle seems to be huge, I’ve been using it since November and I haven’t even hit 1/2 way.
Would I repurchase?
100% I would. I wish this would just be available as part of the permanent line. Otherwise it means I have to look for it again and see if I can get a back up. The only thing with getting this set is that I don’t really get much use out of that mask.
