Affordable Haircare – John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge

John Frieda Recharge and Hydrate

Hey ya’ll. These days it is so hard to think about what to post about, here on the blog and on Instagram too. Selfcare is trending right now and part of that, to me at least, is finding good quality AFFORDABLE products to use, like the John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge. I found it by mistake and I feel like it could become an all time fav.

Especially because having these kids at home is making me poor. Geez from tween up they can eat, shew. Me on the other hand it’s like my appetite just shut down. I don’t snack, I barely even have lunch. Like WTF. But ask me if I’ve lost weight, ask me, go ahead. Coz NO, the answer is no. Anyway I love finding affordable hair care. My go to is Kerastasé Discipline Range , which I spoke about 100 years ago, you can check it out over here, and Joico (review coming soon).

But then I was taking my usual romantic stroll down the isles in clicks, and happened upon, the John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge, which I hadn’t seen before. So whether it’s new or just new to me, I had to have it. Truth be told I like finding NEW beauty items in all categories, more than I am just about the makeup. Are you this way too?

Ok, ok I am getting off topic. Let’s review this new line.

John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge – Shampoo

John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge Shampoo

This is so silky feeling in your hair, no lie. So sometimes when that happens I get a bit skeptical because a lot of natural hair guru’s will say it’s due to the silicones in the product. I don’t know, I don’t check all that. But I will tell you it makes your hair feel ultra silky. But somehow at the same time it’s clean. I always do a triple cleanse. So when I am washing my hair.

  1. I wash my hair just basically to get all the oils and build-up out
  2.  I wash my hair again, this time, I will apply shampoo directly to my scalp and only my scalp. I will massage with one of those shampoo brushes.
  3. Now I apply conditioner. Mid-lengths to ends only….Never ever on my scalp, but I do run my hand over my head with some conditioner on my hands from my 5 head all the way back. My front/ baby hairs are a bit damaged and dry so I have to.
  4.  Wash my body , do normal shower things. Shave or whatever else may be included in your routine. When I am ready to get out I rinse the conditioner out. I rinse for a while. Then I take a little shampoo and spread it on my hands and apply to my scalp only. Be careful not to was out all the moisture you just put in.
  5. Do a final rinse in the shower, making sure all the shampoo is out.
  6.  I have a hand shower in my bath so once I’m out and lotioned , dressed etc. I will rinse my hair again with cool water. This seals the cuticle and adds shine. And yes it actually does. But I can’t do it in the shower, I’ve tried. Plus I shower with the 90ºC water. So this just isn’t going to happen.

So why all this long stories. Because with this shampoo my hair never feels stripped. I have slept with the hair mask (a few too many times) and washed it out the next morning. No conditioner required. I love it , and it smells so good. Sadly I can’t find this on the Clicks website for you. But it is definitely in-stores.

John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge – Deep Soak Mask

John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge - Deep Soak Mask

You know a few years ago, I would have not been able to call John Frieda, affordable. I have to say I am so blessed and grateful that now this R120 odd rand is like affordable to me. Back when I started blogging, shew, R100+ would have had me asking should I, shouldn’t I.

Anyway, so I got the mask, because I think I have mentioned before that having a mask and a conditioner, doesn’t seem useful to me at all. And when I do have wash days I prefer deep moisture. I have bleached my hair so much that it is really damaged and dry, especially the ends. This John Frieda mask does such a good job at hydrating. I think the name ‘John Frieda Hydrate and Recharge’ is the perfect name for it.

This mask delivers so much moisture. And makes my hair so shiny. If I had to choose, I would always always recommend that you buy the mask or conditioner in a line of hair products. I personally feel like it does all the work. I just think it does work even better together.

So that’s my experience with this line.

What’s your go to affordable hair care products? And your hair type too please. It could help someone else out if we aren’t hair type twinzies.

Have a happy and uplifting weekend beauties
